You just have to wish really hard…

I am gobsmacked at JLo’s recent People magazine article, via Julie.

Despite trying to conceive for several years, “I knew there was nothing wrong with me. I knew that I could. Deep down, I really wanted it badly…”

Unlike the rest of us who only want it a bit, Jenny’s faith, determination and general all-round perfection won the day. Despite trying for several years, she never once thought there was something “wrong” with her, it never entered her head that it wouldn’t happen. Well, if you weren’t convinced before that she is completely loola, here is all the evidence you need.

Hubby Marc Anthony’s reasoning for the twin pregnancy is even funnier than the “twins run in the family” excuse – he says that twins were inevitable because everything his wife touches turns to gold! Has he ever seen Gigli?!?

There is something wrong with JLo and MAnt. They tried unsuccessfully to conceive for several years. They are infertile. If their twins were conceived naturally, then they were dealt a really big slice of good luck, and not just because they wished really hard for it. A spontaneous pregnancy after 3 years TTC has about a 1% chance of happening each cycle. Of course it is possible but most people would describe in terms of a “miracle” and a “blessing”, as opposed to an inalienable right due to their own perfection.

And there’s the crux of the matter. Infertility is perceived in the media as an imperfection, in Jenny’s own words, something “wrong with me”. It makes her look old, weakened, more like us. Unlike the shot of “Jennifer and Marc clowning around with their $3,000 prams”. See, Jenny’s not like us, only good things happen to her. That is why she has $3,000 prams and we don’t.

I am going to preempt the “You can’t judge her, she has a right to her privacy” comments with this:

BOLLOX!!!! She has paraded her newborn twins in public for a reported $6m fee. She has put them on show, people are bound to ask questions about them because she has put them out there. Live by the media, die by the media.

I would love to see photos of her at the fertility clinic leaked to the press.

Wishing just doesn’t make babies, we all know better than that.

What a stupid cow. Hope those kids don’t end up looking like Marko (a.k.a. The Goblin)

Oh good – someone who thinks the same as me. I personally don’t believe J-Lo…trying for 3 years and getting lucky…yeah right!

Is it Catholic guilt that’s preventing her from telling the truth?? Methinks it is….

When I read that online the other day, I immediately though that the two of them are obviously so deluded. How can they look each other in the eyes and lie thought their smug little faces…. ..its sad really.

it’s pathetic- so so sad that they can’t tell the truth.

My Reality – I would love to see those pics too. I googled them and the best I got was a magazine that claimed to have them but didn’t post them online. Might have another look now.

Deno and Jane – good to hear from you. How are things with you?

Good thanks! I have just started on Pregnyl injections this week. A little scarey to begin with when you’re sitting at your own kitchen table with the needles and syringes. Luckily one of my best friends is an almost qualified nurse, so she gave DH and I a tutorial in how to inject, otherwise I don’t know how the hell we would have managed it. Had my first post pregnyl peak + 7bloods done yesterday, so waiting to see what the results will be like this month.

BTW, I saw that OK! mag are running the J-Lo interview this week also, pretty much the same word for word as People mag. I beg you to write to the Editor! Go on, go on, go on!! That rag just pisses me off so much sometimes….One week they had a picture of newly pregnant Kerry Katona and husband with the blazing headline “Oh no! I’m pregnant AGAIN!” I really wanted to shoot the editor for that one…

Anyway on a happier note, DH’s wonderful sister has offered us a week’s sailing holiday in Croatia in May, all we have to pay for is our flights to Dubrovnik. Woooo hoooo! Certainly the antedote we need to all the crap we’ve been going through!

How are you keeping, how long to go now? Did Rupert ever return?
    All the best,
    Jane x

Oh God, they wanted to address the “rumours of infertility” – how terrible for them!! GRRRRR
If more people were open and honest about what they were going through, perhaps there wouldn’t have to be this negative, “I’m a failure because I can’t conceive naturally” mentality so often presented in the media…
Well, that’s my 2 cents anyway. But what would I know? There’s “nothing wrong with me” either, apart from failing to conceive 31 months in a row…

EXACTLY what I thought when I read the article!!!
    Are they for real??
Seriously, it’s like her denying she was pregnant for months when she so obviously was. Noone believed her then, does anyone believe her now?
It’s sad that they think infertility is something to be ashamed of and to hide.

  12. Feebee says:

Jane – very best of luck this cycle. Did you get your blood results yet?

Croatia sounds fab, would love to go. No sign of Rupert, we have pretty much given up on her 🙁

    Testing testing 1 2 3.

  14. Jane says:

    Hi Feebee

Blood results were quiet good for first cycle. Prog 64.5 (usually was around the 40 mark or less) oest 378 (last month was around 350). Spoke with Dr B on the phone the other day, he said to go with same again next cycle, so no Clomid yet. Happy with that, would like to avoid taking Clomid if possible.

The strange thing with the HCG injections is I have been having fake pregnancy symptoms all week. Really sore bigger boobs, (and I’m a C to D cup as it is, ouch!!), bloated belly, slightly icky tummy, tiredness, difficulty concentrating etc. I’m 99.9% sure I am not pregnant, as we were very careful around ov time, so this is really bugging me! I could put up with it if it was the real thing! Maybe it’s all in my hormonal head :0)

Sorry to hear about Rupert, as a cat person I know how it is 🙁

Any scans in the near future? You must be getting near your EDD soon, so exciting!

  15. admin says:

Jane – I never got many symptoms from any of the drugs I took but loads of people get those pregnancy symptoms from the HCG shots – it’s such a con. Are you going to try next cycle? Next scan for me is in a couple of weeks.

Love your new home Feebee .
Will definitely make it along to your launch.

  17. I FEEL SO LUCKY TO HAVE FOUND THIS BLOG!!! Your recent post () really impressed me. Had found this blog a long time ago, I would have really appreciated it. I was searching MSN for information on Twin Pregnancy when I stumbled across you Saturday. Keep it going!

  18. Jane says:

    Hi Fee Bee,
Congrats on the new gaff, love the decor 😉

We have been told that when the bloods are up to scratch, which is Prog 60-100 and Oest 400-800, then we can go again. I thought the results were pretty good for first time on the injections, so fingers crossed they will continue to improve. I’d really like to get back to trying asap, I will turn 39 at the end of next month, and I would really like to be a mammy before I’m 40. I never thought in my wildest dreams in my 20’s that I would be leaving it this late, always thought I would be having my first in my early 30’s, but that’s life I suppose.

So we’ll have to wait and see I suppose. Thankfully the phantom pregnancy symptoms have subsided, but now I’m all crabby with AF cramps. If it’s not one thing it’s the other! If I didn’t have an understanding DH I don’t know what I’d do…..I whinge and whinge and he provides the hugs. So at least I’m lucky in that respect 🙂

Keep up the good work, congrats again on the book, I’m really looking forward to a good read!

I read the Jo Lo article on my way home from the States and had the exact same feeling. It bothered me so much. So glad I found this site! X

  20. Veronica says:

You know and not to mention the fact that they were seen going to and from a known fertility clinic.

Heh, obviously the rest of us don’t want it enough.

  21. Bean (MM) says:

Well done for voicing this! The article really rankled with me too, page after page of insensitive, loved-up new baby drivel. Why on earth not admit to your struggles, why create a feeling of shame around an important and universal topic? She could have done so much for a serious topic, or else said nothing at all and maintained a dignified silence.

And, while I’m venting, why say you researched the best thing for your babies and decided breast-feeding was not it? Don’t misunderstand my irritation, I believe every mother can choose what they prefer for their baby or themselves- breast or bottle, but don’t talk tripe about having ‘researched’ that formula is best for babies in such a public forum. Make your choice but don’t say it’s the best one for all babies. That too smacked of guilt talking – why not just say ‘Yes, we needed help to conceive- aren’t our babies wonderful? And ‘Yes I found the thought of breast-feeding twins exhausting/intimidating so opted for bottle – it’s working well for us.”
AND! Why tell us about the two 24 hour nurses, while insisting they do everything themselves? Are they paying the nurses to play backgammon?

Jenny from the Block – Humph!
FeeBee – Well done on the book. I really admire your achievement. You must be so proud!

  22. Fiona says:

    Thanks everyone.

Bean – I couldn’t believe the stuff about how they do everything themselves, even though they have 2 24 hour nurses. And JLo’s comment that her hubby could teach the nurses a thing or two about nappy changing????

  23. Bean says:

…and Fiona? huge and heartfelt congrats on your baby bean.
