The majority of in vitro fertilization procedures will be transferred to only a few embryos in the uterus to reduce the likelihood of multiple births. Use of multiple embryos, however, increases the chances for success of the procedure. According to the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School, the success rates for women undergoing IVF cycle from 2000 to 2009 was approximately 46%, while women opted for egg donation cycles had a success rate of approximately 51%. Women who underwent cycles cyropreserved / thawed embryo transfer had a success rate of 30%.
