And we’re off…
I was going to give you a report on last night’s shenanigans but I much prefer Darragh’s version of events! Lovely to meet you Darragh and thanks for the kind words.
Thanks to everyone who came along and to those of you I met for the first time, it was great to put faces to names. I did feel a bit weird signing books, sorta like people were humouring me cos it was my party!
I’ve been doing a lot of media for the book this week. I didn’t post about it as I thought it was a bit “oooh, look at me” but hubby thinks people might be interested. So, there was a piece in yesterday’s Irish Times (subscription needed), I’m in this month’s PC Live! magazine, next month’s Image magazine parenting supplement, Woman’s Way magazine in a couple of weeks and the next RTE Guide. I’ve been doing the rounds of the regional radio stations last week and this and will be on Limerick Live 95FM (prerecorded) at 10am tomorrow morning, East Coast FM on Friday at 10am and Highland Radio on Monday at 12pm.
And last but not least, I will be on the Gerry Ryan show on 2FM tomorrow between 10 and 11am. I will be taking questions from callers so please call in with some easy ones!

Fiona,
Just saw the article In I Times yesterday and spent almost all today so far reading your blog. I’m delighted for you and after ten years of trying, a late loss, DOR diagnosis etc. I have felt nearly every emotion you’ve expressed so well. Very best of luck with the new babby and I’ll listen in to Gerry tomorrow. Well done on being our advocate and for what it’s worth I almost puked last week in the hairdressers’ when I read that JLo article. I

You are most welcome Fiona
Thanks for the link and best of luck with the media! I have no doubt your book will make a great and welcome contribution to so many deserving people.

I feel quite hard done by not being at home at the moment to get to hear and read all of this media exposure.
My wife has flown in and is about to fly back out of Dublin in about an hour and has regretfully informed the the bookstore there doesn’t have the book yet. Boo on them.
I hope to catch up on recordings of the interviews.
Well done again, and good luck with Gerry Ryan tomorrow!

I have followed your story for the last couple of years and I am so so proud of you and I don’t even know you! I sent my husband down to Hughes & Hughes in Dun Laoghaire today to get me my copy. It’s not in yet but they have ordered it for me. Hooray! Can’t wait to read it.

Congratulations on the launch Fiona, I was really hoping I’d get in to town last night but couldn’t get out of work stuff soon enough
I will be tuning in tomorrow morning though! Good luck!

Man I feel hard done by that I am missing all the buzz in Dublin. Here I am sitting in the armpit of Ohio, wasting my time listening to the false media reports on the PA votes and Iraq war. Congrats on ALL the media exposure. You are famous now! It’s BRILLIANT!!!

loved Darragh’s report on the day, thanks for that. Good luck with the media stuff and please try to take it easy!

Thanks all!
Ladybird – so sorry to read your story. I thought I’d be through the wars but you have had an absolutely horrific time. Are you still trying?

Thanks Fiona,
You were great on gerry btw! I wanted to ring all my friends and family to tell them to turn it on. People try to understand but they don’t realise how infertility changes you on almost a cellular level and impacts everything you are. Yeah we are still trying, (and it’s trying!) but trying in parallel, to come to terms with life as a childless couple. I have been so lucky in my life in so many ways but this has been a total heartbreaker and has tested me and changed me in ways I never anticipated. Tried to get your book in Easons in Dundrum today but it wasn’t there – will get it in town tomorrow.
Seriously, thanks for your honesty – it does make it a little easier for all of us.

Thank you Ladybird. My number one aim is to try and get people to understand what it is really like. And great if I sell lots of books in the process!
I’m so sorry you’ve had such a long road with no success. I understand the need to try to come to terms with it, I always had that in the back of my mind. Not sure how I could do it though.
